This Privacy Policy explains how Rootd ("Rootd," "we," "us," or "our"), operated by Colorful Aura Inc., collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Rootd app. By using Rootd, you agree to this policy.

1. Information you give us

• Account information. When you create an account — by email and password, Sign in with Apple, or Google — we receive your email address and, where available, your name.
• Dietary & health information. To personalize your food scores and learning, you may tell us things like your allergies and intolerances, dietary patterns (e.g. vegan, gluten-free), health goals, conditions you're managing, and ingredients you want to avoid. This is sensitive information and we use it only to power features you've asked for.
• Your activity in the app. Products you scan, your pantry, saved recipes, learning progress (lessons completed, quiz scores, streaks, "roots"), and the name you give your in-app sprout.
• Camera & photos. Rootd uses your camera to scan product barcodes and, if you choose, to capture a product label. Barcode scanning happens on your device. If you submit a photo or correction to help improve a product's information, that image may be stored in our database.
• Feedback. Messages you send through the in-app "report a problem" or account-deletion feedback.

2. Information collected automatically

• Purchases. Subscriptions are processed by Apple. We receive your subscription status (active, expired) but never your card or payment details.
• Usage & diagnostics. We may use Google Firebase (including analytics and crash reporting) to understand how the app is used and to fix problems. This can include app-event and device information.

3. How we use your information

• To calculate personalized food scores and flag allergens and additives for you.
• To tailor your Learn feed and save your progress across your devices.
• To operate features like your pantry, saved recipes, and scan history.
• To respond to your feedback and improve Rootd.
• To send optional reminders (only if you turn notifications on).

4. How your information is stored and shared

Your data is stored using Google Firebase (Authentication and Firestore). We rely on these service providers:

• Google / Firebase — authentication, database, analytics.
• Apple — sign-in and subscription processing.

If you contribute product information or corrections, that product data may be added to a shared database used to improve results for everyone — without your name or identity attached.

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers above to run the app, or if required by law.

5. Data retention and deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account at any time from Profile → "delete my account," which erases your profile, pantry, scans, saved recipes, and learning progress. If you need help, contact us at the email below.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under GDPR or CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to object to certain processing. You can exercise most of these directly in the app, or by contacting us.

7. Age requirement

Rootd is intended for adults 18 and older. We ask for your date of birth at sign-up and do not permit anyone under 18 to create an account. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18; if you believe an underage person has provided us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

8. Security

We use reasonable measures to protect your information, but no method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll revise the "Last updated" date above, and significant changes may be communicated in the app.
